Recently, the Chicago Bulls ended their search for the next leader of their front office regime by hiring former Atlanta Hawks exec Bryson Graham to the position. Graham will now look to help usher in a new era of Chicago basketball after the team missed the postseason altogether in 2025-26.
Among Graham's former stops in the NBA was the New Orleans Pelicans , where he worked under well-respected basketball mind David Griffin .
Now, Graham has revealed a valuable lesson he learned from his time with Griffin.
"You've got to be honest enough to tell people the things that they need to hear… David Griffin was great about this. It was like, 'Punch me in the face. If I'm wrong and I need to hear it, and I'm not listening, come tell me,'" said Graham per Bulls on CHSN on X, formerly Twitter.
The Bulls could certainly use some stronger communication and leadership in their front office after spending the last few years prior to the 2025-26 season in play-in purgatory, losing in that round for three consecutive years before finally starting to bottom out this past season.
Chicago does have some intriguing young talent on the roster, including Josh Giddey , who was a nightly triple double threat throughout last season, and Matas Buzelis , who has established himself as one of the best players from the 2024 rookie class so far.
Still, the Bulls have a logjam in the backcourt, essentially on one in the frontcourt, and also a vacancy at both the general manager and head coaching positions, meaning Graham certainly has his work cut out for him in the coming weeks.
His job will be made easier if the Bulls get some luck in the NBA Lottery, which is set to take place on Sunday.
