- Cam Skattebo’s injury leaves Giants short on proven runners

Cam Skattebo's hamstring is now the biggest immediate question in the Giants backfield.
The running back did not practice Wednesday, according to the official Giants-Eagles injury report . Coach John Harbaugh described him as day to day, NJ.com reported . The practice update is not a ruling that he will miss Sunday's game.
Skattebo leads New York with 418 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns, averaging 4.3 yards per carry. He went down with the injury after a 42-yard run in overtime against Houston, a play that helped set up the winning score.

Tyrone Tracy Jr. is on injured reserve, leaving Devin Singletary as the experienced alternative if Skattebo can't play. The Giants also added Greg Desrosiers, but the rookie's role isn't established. The Associated Press reported New York has limited healthy backfield depth while Skattebo is sidelined.
My approach would be to prepare Singletary for the lead workload without pretending one player has to recreate every part of Skattebo's game. More receiving involvement and a controlled rotation can help, particularly if the practice week limits how much the staff knows about the starter's health.
New York has been linked to outside running backs before the November 10 trade deadline. A Sunday injury concern may make depth urgent, but it doesn't justify surrendering a premium pick without considering the player's role beyond this week.
If Skattebo practices later in the week and is cleared, the staff can adjust. Until then, the Giants need a real Philadelphia plan built around the backs who can practice.
