St. Louis Cardinals star Jordan Walker is in the middle of a true breakout season. Walker struggled in recent years , but he looks like one of the best players in the game so far in 2026. On Saturday in the Cardinals' 9-6 win against the Minnesota Twins , Walker hit his 18th home run of the season. The long ball was far from just another home run, though, as it was the second hardest hit homer during the Statcast era (2015) at 116.6 MPH off the bat, according to Sarah Langs. Langs also reports that Walker's long ball is the second hardest hit home run this year.
Walker is unquestionably establishing himself as one of the best players in the game. While Shohei Ohtani is likely going to win another MVP in the National League, Walker could receive consideration to be a finalist for the award if he continues to play at a high level.
