The Cardinals had refused to give up on Gorman throughout the season despite his struggles. While they are still not giving up on him, they are going to see if he can figure things out at the Triple-A level.
Gorman appeared in 62 games with the big league team before Friday's announcement. He hit .194/.279/.318 during that span to go along with seven home runs and four doubles.
The infielder made his debut at the MLB level in 2022. He featured the ceiling of a star. While Gorman has displayed potential over the years — he hit 27 home runs to go along with an .805 OPS in 2023 — the 26-year-old has been unable to find overall consistency.
Perhaps Gorman will get back on track at Triple-A.
