Alabama A&M quarterback Cornelius Brown IV was recently granted an 8th year of eligibility to play college football. In a recent interview with Fox54, Brown spoke about why he’s returning for his eighth season.

“I love football,” Brown said. “There’s nothing else that I’d rather be doing than playing college football. And I feel like a lot of people would feel the same if they were in my position. I don’t want to go get a real job. I want to continue to impact lives and, and, and leave a positive impact on this university and on my teammates. So I’m just thankful, thankful to God that I have that opportunity.”

Brown started his college career at Georgia State in 2019, putting up huge numbers for the Panthers. He finished his time at Georgia State throwing for 2,489 passing yards and 26 total touchdowns, with 17 of them being passing touchdowns and 9 of them being rushing touchdowns. But during his time with Georgia State, he suffered several injuries that kept him off the field for a prolonged period of time.

After that, he transferred to UT Martin, where he was pivotal for the team’s run to the OVC championship. He then transferred to Alabama A&M and found himself once again as a key feature of the offense—this time in Sam Shade’s inaugural season with the Bulldogs.

He played 4 games for Alabama A&M before suffering an ankle sprain, which he considered the result of a low blow—an illegal low blow. Following the injury, he was classified as a medical redshirt. The Bulldogs went 2-2 on the year with him under center as he threw for 1,000 yards and 7 touchdowns.
