NBA veteran analyst Skip Bayless reacted to the Los Angeles Lakers ' series of changes, including LeBron James' exit, and their latest trade with the Utah Jazz for Walker Kessler. The Lakers agreed to a $130 million sign-and-trade with the Jazz, upgrading their starting center position.

Bayless responded to the events by pointing to James' unwillingness to be part of the Lakers' future and to what trading for Kessler means for the upcoming season.
"Strong move by the Lakers to acquire and sign Walker Kessler, the shotblocker/offensive rebounder/pick-and-roller Luka has lacked and wanted," Bayless said. "Mamu, Sexton & Grimes aren't bad pickups, either. All this was made possible by saying no to LeGone's demand."
While no one can predict LeBron's final destination, the Lakers are well-suited to move forward without him after an eight-year tenure and a 2020 championship.

ESPN analyst Stephen A Smith blasted the Lakers' offseason moves after watching LeBron James announce he will continue his career in 2026-27, but that his era in Los Angeles is over. The Lakers, led by All-Star Luka Doncic, extended Austin Reaves' contract last week and traded for Jazz center Walker Kessler, establishing a new core for the franchise's future.

Smith criticized the Lakers' recent moves, pointing to their race as a contributing factor, Smith said, per The Stephen A Smith Show.
"Where the h*** the Los Angeles Lakers think they're going with a bunch of white dudes," Smith said on his show. "Your top 3 players are white dudes. This ain't golf; this ain't baseball. It ain't even soccer."
It'll be interesting to see how the Lakers will fare against the rest of the Western Conference next season.
