The Chicago Cubs have not been playing some of their best baseball over the course of two weeks, and they’re currently on a nine-game losing streak . Their latest loss came against the Pittsburgh Pirates , and they’re looking for anything to help them get back on track.
After their series loss against the Houston Astros , Craig Counsell shared what he thinks has led to their slump.
“We’ve have got to prevent homers better,” Counsell said. “If you give up the number of homers you’re giving up it’s a problem. It is tough to win games when you are giving up the number of home runs we are giving up.”
The Cubs hit the ball well to start the season, but it hasn’t allowed them to get any scores on the board. That means that Pere Crow-Armstrong, Alex Bregman , Seiya Suzuki and Ian Happ .
Bregman also spoke about how he needs to play better if the Cubs want to see better days moving forward.
“We gotta do a better job still. It starts with me obviously, too many empty plate appearances. Gotta be better and execute better,” Bregman said.
Even though the Cubs are on a nine-game losing streak, they’re currently 29-25 and are in third place in the NL Central.
The Cubs are still in good shape, but they’re going to have to find a rhythm before things really get out of hand. The good news is that Cubs know what they need to do to get better, and things can change in their next game.
