The Arizona Diamondbacks acquired third baseman Nolan Arenado from the St. Louis Cardinals this past offseason. While Arenado may not be the same superstar-caliber player he once was, the infielder is more than capable of still making an impact. Arenado's work ethic has especially impressed Diamondbacks star outfielder Corbin Carroll .
"The preparation piece is super impressive. I definitely put myself in that bucket of guys that looked up to and respected him before playing with him," Carroll said of Arenado, via Wolf & Luke on Arizona Sports. "Now being on the same side everyday, could not have more respect. I think he's the hardest worker I've played with. And, you know, a great and outstanding teammate."
Carroll is already a star , but receiving the opportunity to learn from an established veteran like Arenado will only help his career. Arenado, 35, is currently hitting .268/.346/.458 to go along with seven home runs. Meanwhile, Carroll, 25, has recorded a slash line of .304/.399/.575 while also hitting seven home runs and a league leading eight triples.
Arizona has quietly found success this season. The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres — who are in first and second place in the National League West standings — receive most of the attention in the NL West. The Diamondbacks, however, are in third place and are only 4.5 games behind the Dodgers for first place as of this story's writing.
Arizona will look to continue playing well against the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday night. First pitch for the ball game is scheduled for 9:45 PM EST.
