The Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the San Francisco Giants by a final score of 7-5 on Tuesday night. Diamondbacks veteran third baseman Nolan Arenado exited the game with right groin tightness, however. Manager Torey Lovullo shared an update on Arenado following the contest, via Alex Weiner.
"Nolan was removed from the game for right groin tightness," Lovullo said. "I just told him, 'Let's be smart about it.' He said, 'I can go out and keep playing if you want me to.' Max did a really good job, our trainer here, made a couple really nice comments. And then I just jumped in and said, 'Let's just be smart. Let's get you off the field and see how you feel.'
"He's day-to-day so we will see how he feels tonight and tomorrow morning."
The Diamondbacks have enjoyed having Arenado on the team this season. Arizona acquired Arenado in a trade with the St. Louis Cardinals during the offseason. The 35-year-old is hitting .271/.351/.459 across 51 games played with the Diamondbacks so far this season.
Arenado also addressed his injury concern after the game, via Alex Weiner.
"Obviously little tight right now, but no, I didn't feel like a pull or anything," Arenado said. "… It was more precautionary than anything."
The Diamondbacks improved to 30-24 overall this season with the victory. They now have an opportunity to sweep the Giants in San Francisco on Wednesday afternoon at 3:45 PM EST.
Meanwhile, updates on Nolan Arenado 's injury status will continue to be monitored and provided as they are made available.
