As the o pportunities have been piling up for the Chicago White Sox , the team is heating up with the 3-2 win on Wednesday against the Los Angeles Angels , completing the sweep. The win for the White Sox was helped by Colson Montgomery , who hit the walk-off hit that sent the team home positively, as the ball club is climbing the standings.

With the bases loaded on a 0-0 pitch from Los Angeles pitcher Drew Pomeranz , Montgomery recorded a base hit to center that won them the game , making the team now at a 14-17 record, after being 6-13 to start the year.

The AL Central is starting to look more interesting now, as with the White Sox at an aforementioned 14-17 record, the team is third in the division, with the Detroit Tigers and the Cleveland Guardians above them at 15-15 and 16-16, respectively. It’s been a literally middling start for both the Tigers and the Guardians, with Chicago having the opportunity to take advantage of them being hot and gain an advantage.

The White Sox competing for the division is far cry from the prior seasons

The White Sox are 7-3 in their last 10 games, showing how much they have improved since that 6-13 start, but it still needs to be mentioned that the long season usually evens out the talent level of each team. At the very minimum, there is no denying that fans want the team to be better than what the ball club has been for the last three seasons.

In each of the last three years, Chicago has recorded at least 10o losses, with 2024 being the worst at 121 defeats, which holds the record for the most losses by an MLB team in modern history, surpassing the 1962 New York Mets at 120.

It looks like the White Sox are in a much better place, especially helped by Montgomery, who currently has a .234 batting average with eight home runs and 21 RBIs. Chicago starts a three-game series against the San Diego Padres on Friday night.
