Former top prospect Jarred Kelenic is set to receive another opportunity at the MLB level with the Chicago White Sox . On Wednesday, the White Sox announced that outfielder Everson Pereira is being placed on the 10-day injured list due to a right pectoral strain. Kelenic’s contract was selected from Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Kelenic signed a minor league contract with the White Sox during the offseason. Kelenic participated in spring training with the big league team but ended up beginning the season at Triple-A.
At Triple-A this season, Kelenic hit .202/.346/.464 across 26 games played. The outfielder added six home runs.
The 26-year-old was once regarded as one of the top prospects in baseball. In 2018, Kelenic was traded from the New York Mets to the Seattle Mariners as part of the deal that saw Edwin Diaz and Robinson Cano head to New York.
Kelenic made his debut in the big leagues in 2021 with Seattle. However, he hit just .181 in 93 games. Kelenic would play with the Mariners from 2021-2023 before ending up with the Atlanta Braves in 2024. He spent the 2024 and 2025 seasons in Atlanta. While Kelenic has yet to meet his lofty expectations from the days of when he was a top prospect, he did hit 15 home runs in 2024.

The White Sox are hopeful that Kelenic can make an impact in MLB this season. He is only 26 years old, so Kelenic could still become a star at the big league level. It will be interesting to see how he performs in Chicago with the White Sox.
