New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye made his case for 2025 NFL MVP by guiding his team to a 14-3 record, an AFC East title and a No. 2 seed in the playoffs in his second season as a professional. On Sunday night, the Patriots are set to host Justin Herbert and the No. 7 Los Angeles Chargers at 8:15 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.
As Maye's profile grows, so has the interest in his personal life. Fans tuning in for wild card games this weekend might be wondering who the 23-year-old QB is married to after hearing about his wife's viral "Bakemas" videos on TikTok or her recent appearance with Dave Portnoy on a new local cooking show. Here are a few things you need to know about Drake Maye and his wife, Ann Michael Maye, as the NFL playoffs begin.

Drake Maye Met His Wife Ann Michael More Than 10 Years Ago
The Patriots quarterback started dating Ann Michael Hudson in 2015, and their 10-year relationship followed Maye from Myers Park High School in Charlotte to the University of North Carolina.
The high school sweethearts took their relationship public when Maye posted a photo of them on New Year's Eve in 2019 with the iconic Instagram caption, "Bringing in '20 with a 10."
Maye left UNC early to enter the 2024 NFL Draft. His decision forced the couple to go long-distance during his rookie season in New England , until Ann Michael finished her degree in the spring of 2025.
They Got Married in North Carolina
After Ann Michael's graduation last year, the two North Carolina natives got married in their home state on June 21, surrounded by friends and family. Both sides have large families, including Maye's famous older brother, former Tar Heels college basketball star Luke Maye.
"Drake and I are so blessed to have the best family and friends that stood by our side on our wedding day," she said later in a recap post on Instagram . "Forever thankful for these people!"
Maye's Play Has Improved Since He Got Married
After the wedding, the Mayes started a new life together in Boston. Ann Michael moving north was a boon for the Patriots quarterback in his second season — not just because of her baking skills.
"She's been a great addition up here for me," Maye told former Patriots player Devin McCourty before a "Sunday Night Football" game in December . "Getting married in the offseason, her coming up here to live in Boston. She's from the South, [has] Southern charm."
While his wife's presence cannot be the only reason, it has coincided with an undeniable improvement in Maye's play. The Patriots QB showed flashes in his rookie season in 2024, but looked far more settled in his second year en route to All-Pro second team honors .
Maye finished the 2025 regular season with 4,394 passing yards, 31 touchdowns and eight interceptions. His 72% completion percentage led the NFL.
Ann Michael Maye Has a Double Name
The one thing that the locals in Massachusetts still struggle with, Maye explained in a Dec. 8 interview on "WEEI Mornings," is the correct way to say his wife's full name .
"I think people up north kind of struggle with the double name," Drake said. "Her name's a double name, Ann Michael, so hopefully people figure that out."
That small trip up has not stopped Patriots fans from becoming obsessed with Ann Michael and leaving wholesome comments on all her social media posts. As New England's resurgence continues, her popularity is sure to keep soaring.
If the Patriots beat the Chargers, they will host the winner of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Houston Texans game in the AFC divisional round next weekend.
