Ernest Campbell shows off speed at Colorado's winter workouts

The Colorado Buffaloes added a boatload of talent this offseason, which included several speedsters on the offensive side of the ball that fit perfectly in offensive coordinator Brennan Marion's offense .

One of those players is wide receiver Ernest Campbell, a transfer from Marion's former program, Sacramento State, and a former high school and Texas A&M track star. He ran 10.02 seconds in the 100 meters as a college freshman and showed that elite speed this past week during conditioning practices in Boulder.

The former four-star recruit ran back-to-back 4.33 40-yard dashes, impressing Marion and several others. After the first run, Marion encouraged Campbell to run again to see if he could go under 4.3.

"We're going to go one more to see if you can get 4.2," Marion said to Campbell. "You're too close not to try for it. Let's see if you can get it."

Another 4.33 is nothing to slouch at, especially on a second attempt. Campbell is one of four wide receivers who joined the Buffs in the past month and looks like the fastest receiver on the team. Whether he starts or not remains to be seen, but Campbell will, without a doubt, have a role next season.
