And then everything came crumbling down during All-Star Weekend in 2015 in New York. Bosh was diagnosed with blood clots on his lungs, a condition that would change his basketball-playing career and life.
The blood-thinning medication caused his career to end. He officially retired in 2019, ending his 13-year career. Bosh has successfully lived with the condition but recently told a story of how he dealt with a near-death experience.
He had a pulmonary embolism and had to be brought back to life.
Bosh was part of the famed 2003 NBA draft class that also included Wade, James ( Cleveland Cavaliers ) and Carmelo Anthony ( Denver Nuggets ). They were four of the top five picks, joined by Darko Millcic, who was taken No. 2 by the Detroit Pistons . Bosh was selected by the Toronto Raptors , where he became a perennial All-Star.

In the summer of 2010, Bosh felt he needed a little bit more shine. His career took a complete turn in the right direction when he signed with the Heat. It was one of the biggest moves in NBA history when he decided to join Wade and James. The Heat had three of the top 10 players on one roster.
After losing to the Dallas Mavericks in the Finals their first season together, the Big Three won the next two titles. They defeated the Kevin Durant , James Harden and Russell Westbrook-led Oklahoma City Thunder before knocking off Tim Duncan and San Antonio Spurs .
Even though his career was cut short, Bosh still had an impressive body of work. That resulted in him being inducted into the Naismith Basketball Memorial Hall of Fame in 2021.
