Atlanta Falcons head coach Raheem Morris relayed some bad news to reporters during his Wednesday afternoon press conference. Morris said that linebacker Troy Andersen , defensive lineman Zach Harrison and edge Bralen Trice will not be returning this season.
Andersen has been on the physically unable to perform list since the end of training camp and has not appeared in a single game this season due to a knee injury. The former second-round pick has been effective when healthy, but he hasn't been healthy very often. Andersen has appeared in 26 games since being drafted back in 2022.
Trice, a former third-round pick from the 2024 NFL draft, missed all of his rookie season due to a knee injury that he suffered in the preseason. After a full year in recovery, Trice re-injured his knee during training camp. The former Washington standout will now officially miss his first two NFL seasons.
Harrison was having somewhat of a breakout season before injuring his knee in Week 10. The former third-round pick out of Ohio State was tied for the team-lead with 4.5 sacks at the time of his injury.
While it's not exactly a surprise that the Falcons opted to shut down all three players for the rest of the season, it also means that Andersen has likely played his last game in Atlanta. The fourth-year linebacker is one of several players set to enter free agency in the offseason.
Aside from Andersen, the Falcons must decide what to do with tight end Kyle Pitts , linebacker Kaden Elliss and running back Tyler Allgeier . All three players could potentially cash in during free agency. Check out the team's full list of free agents HERE .
The Falcons will face off against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 16. Sunday's game starts at 4:05 p.m. ET at State Farm Stadium.
