Woods, 33, joined the Steelers on a one-year free agent contract this offseason. However, despite his veteran presence and resume, he saw limited action with the first team in preseason play.
In fact, he was seen playing deep into the Pittsburgh's preseason finale, and in 69 offensive snaps, he was targeted just one time, making one catch for four yards.
The Steelers then released him as part of their final roster cuts. They re-signed Woods to the practice squad the following day, but he eventually requested and was granted his release.
Woods began his professional career as a second-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft by the Bills. After four years in Buffalo, he joined the Rams, who he win Super Bowl LVI with.
Woods played under Sean McVay for five years in Los Angeles. Out of the five teams that he played for, Woods spent the most time with the Rams.
A native of Gardena, California, Woods recorded 683 catches for 8,233 and 38 touchdowns in his 13-year NFL career.
