San Francisco Giants president of baseball operations Buster Posey tried to give the team a boost after trading multi-time Gold Glove winner Patrick Bailey , and now he is doing the same via the latest series of roster moves .
Left fielder Heliot Ramos is going on the 10-day injured list due to a right quad strain, left-handed hitter Will Brennan is being recalled, southpaw Erik Miller is coming off the 15-day IL and righty Tristan Beck is being optioned to Triple-A Sacramento, per the SF Chronicle's Susan Slusser.
The Giants (18-27) will roll into Saturday night's Bay Area battle versus the Athletics (23-21) with the second-worst record in the National League, but perhaps these alterations can infuse some new energy into the clubhouse. Ramos is one of the steadiest hitters in the lineup, so Brennan will have decently-sized shoes to fill when manager Tony Vitello chooses to give him an opportunity. The 2019 eighth-round draft pick has registered only 20 at-bats since the 2025 campaign.
Miller endured turbulence in early April, but he strung together eight scoreless innings before landing on the IL with a lower-back strain. He is another weapon Vitello can wield out of the bullpen amid a three-game losing streak.
San Francisco is unlikely to fix all of its problems with a round of transactions. Losing Heliot Ramos could put the beleaguered offense in an even bigger jam. Though, any change might be beneficial right now. The Giants are hoping to find a spark in this Northern California showdown. The action will commence at approximately 9:40 p.m. ET in Sutter Health Park.
