The San Francisco Giants watched Rafael Devers reach a major MLB milestone Tuesday night, even as the rest of the evening unraveled in an 8-2 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field.
Devers launched the 250th home run of his career in the top of the seventh inning, giving the Giants one of its few bright moments in another tough National League West loss. The blast placed him in the 250 Club and added another marker to a power resume already built across his time with the Boston Red Sox and Giants.
MLB posted the moment on its official X account, formerly Twitter, as the 29-year-old designated hitter reached the milestone.
" Rafael Devers hits his 250th career home run!"
Arizona controlled the game around that swing. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. hit a three-run homer in the first inning, and Brandon Pfaadt kept the Giants scoreless for five innings. San Francisco starter Landen Roupp struggled early, allowing six runs over 2.2 innings as the Diamondbacks continued their season-long success in the matchup.
The loss dropped San Francisco further into a difficult spot. Arizona improved to 8-0 against the Giants this season, while San Francisco sat fourth in the National League West at 35-50, 20 games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers .
That context made Devers' homer even more significant . Since arriving from Boston in June 2025, his overall production has been uneven, but the milestone still underscored the rare power that made him such an important addition for San Francisco.
For the Giants, Tuesday ended with another frustrating division loss. Devers' milestone, however, offered a reminder that San Francisco still has an elite long-term bat worth building around.
