Towards the end of March, the Miami Heat announced that they were going to part ways with Terry Rozier before the playoffs began.

On Friday, it was confirmed that Rozier is out of Miami, per Shams Charania of ESPN. Rozier has been absent from the Heat ever since he was indicted on federal charges of illegal gambling back in October.
At the time, the NBA was subjected to an FBI investigation into illegal gambling probes involving NBA players and coaches. Altogether, Rozier was charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering. In December, he pleaded not guilty.
Despite this, the NBA had to pay Rozier his $26.8 million salary .
In all, Rozier played with the Heat for two years beginning in January 2024. During his first season, he played in 31 games and averaged 16.4 points and 4.6 assists.

In the 2024-25 season, Rozier played in 64 games with Miami and averaged 10.6 points per game.
Altogether, Rozier has played in the NBA since 2015, when the Boston Celtics drafted him. He would play in Boston from 2015 to 2019. In 2019, he embarked on a five-year run with the Charlotte Hornets before joining the Miami Heat.
Meanwhile, the Heat are 41-39 and are 10th in the Eastern Conference standings. As a result, they are on the bubble for the postseason and contending for the Play-In tournament.
The Heat have two regular-season games remaining. On Friday, they will play against the Washington Wizards on the road. After that, they will play their last home game on Sunday against the Atlanta Hawks.
