Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour reveals what he's still 'worried' about despite 8-0 playoff start appeared first on ClutchPoints . Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here .
The Carolina Hurricanes literally could not have asked for a better start to the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs, becoming the first team in four decades to sweep their first two rounds.
The Canes are now enjoying some well-deserved rest and relaxation while awaiting the winner of the Buffalo Sabres and Montreal Canadiens Round 2 matchup, which is currently tied 2-2.
But the long layoff is a great time to overthink , and that's exactly what head coach Rod Brind'Amour has been doing since the Hurricanes silenced the Philadelphia Flyers in Game 4 on Saturday.
"We're worried about our stuff," the bench boss said earlier this week, per NHL.com's Kurt Dusterberg. "We can be better in certain areas. We can score more on the power play, we can be more efficient in certain areas. We're going to have to be as we move on."
Brind'Amour also shared some interesting insight on how the team is staying sharp amid the lengthy break.
"We're working. We've got two teams to dial in on, so it's a little … you overdo it. That's what we're here to do," he continued.
"But you don't need to invent the wheel. You've got to get better at everything you're doing, so we're going to focus on that. I don't think you want to deviate from what you're doing. We always say it's sharpening the knife. You've got to stay razor sharp on what we do well."
It's been a fairytale campaign for the Hurricanes so far in 2025-26. Not only did they win the Eastern Conference in the regular season for the first time in franchise history, but they are a perfect 8-0 in the postseason.
The offense is firing on all cylinders, the defensive side of the puck is excellent, and veteran netminder Frederik Andersen has been lights out between the pipes, leading the playoffs in both goals-against average and save percentage.
But, as Carolina knows, there is a long way to go. And this core has lost in the East Final in two of the last four seasons. They have the talent to finally get over the hump, but as Brind'Amour continues to preach, the job isn't even close to finished.
