Montaric Brown knew he wanted to remain with the Jacksonville Jaguars and made his dream come true moments before the NFL's free agency frenzy kicked off with "legal tampering" at noon on Monday.
The Jaguars re-signed Brown to a reported three-year, $33 million deal that slots him as the 26th-highest paid corner in the league on a per-year basis. The team made the news official just after Brown wrapped up a Zoom press conference with local media.
Brown made it clear he wanted to remain in Jacksonville after the team took him with a seventh-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.

"It feels great. It feels unbelievable to get things done and to stay here. I enjoyed my time here since I've been here. Man, we've got something special here and just to continue that, it feels great," Brown said.
Brown said the team and his representatives had been in contact over the last couple of weeks to get a deal done. Once free agency got closer, deal became more of a reality. His first phone call after inking a big-time NFL contract? His Mom, of course.
"I called her and when I called her she was just so excited but it's something we talked about a long time ago and we just spoke it into existence," Brown said. "Just to see things fall in place and to see it from my journey and see where I came from it means a lot and it was a crazy feeling and unbelievable when I told her."
Brown, 26, became a full-time starter in Jacksonville's defense last year after injuries paved the way for him to rise up the depth chart. Brown sustained an injury at the start of training camp that stunted his growth within the defense before he got healthy in the first couple of weeks in the season.
Before his injury, Brown looked like one of the team's best cornerbacks and proved it through 12 starts to close the season. Brown led the team with 12 pass breakups, adding two interceptions and 51 tackles (43 solos).
Now, the team will welcome back a depth-filled secondary that has solidified its starting corners moving forward.
"The chemistry is always strong. It's just built even more. We've all got a connection. We all play good together to keep that going, it just means a lot and the sky's the limit," said Brown.
