The Jacksonville Jaguars continue to recoup their own players ahead of free agency, inking a deal to re-sign linebacker Dennis Gardeck . The team announced the move ahead of the league's free agency negotiation window opening at noon on Monday.
The deal to keep Gardeck comes not long after the team announced they'd re-upped cornerback Montaric Brown on a deal to keep him in Jacksonville. Brown's deal has been reported to be for $33 million over three years.
Jacksonville brought in Gardeck ahead of the 2025 season and his role increased as the season went on. During the year, Gardeck played in all 17 games, starting eight as the team's SAM linebacker. Gardeck primarily played as an on-ball linebacker, tasked with setting the edge against the run and rushing the passer.

Last year, Gardeck accounted for 48 total tackles (28 solos), six tackles for loss, nine quarterback hits, 2.5 sacks, two pass breakups and one forced fumble.
In speaking with the media shortly after signing his contract with the club, Gardeck said he feels renewed with Jacksonville after enjoying a 13-4 season that he admitted was "bittersweet" after the team lost in the first round of the playoffs.
"I feel renewed as a professional football player. I'm excited to come to work. I'm excited about the future," Gardeck said via Zoon on Monday, mentioning that his growth and development as a player meant a lot to him last season and impacted his desire to remain with the club for at least an additional year.
Gardeck played the previous seven years of his career with the Arizona Cardinals . He quickly became one of the team's most energetic players on special teams and had multiple seasons with six-or-more sacks.
In his career, Gardeck has played in 113 games (25 starts), accounting for 204 tackles (145 solos), 44 quarterback hits, four forced fumbles, 19.5 sacks, nine pass breakups and two interceptions.
