LL Cool J famously spat on Mama Says Knock You Out “Don’t Call it a Comeback, I’ve Been Here for Years”. That certainly applies to none other than Stephen Curry . Despite enduring a recent knee injury that sidelined him, Curry rose to the occasion for the Golden State Warriors when it really counted.
On Wednesday, the Warriors played the Los Angeles Clippers in the NBA Play-In tournament. Curry helped engineer a 13-point comeback with under 10 minutes left. Then, with 50.4 seconds left and the game tied at 117, Curry silenced the home crowd at the Intuit Dome in LA with a fitting 3-pointer.
In all, the Warriors outscoed the Clippers 43-32 in the 4th quarter and won 126-121. As a result, Golden State moves on to face the Phoenix Suns in the Play-In tournament on Friday.
The 3-pointer was epic, as the look of the hobbled Jimmy Butler said it all , per NBA on Prime.
Butler is out for the season with a torn ACL sustained on January 19.
In total, Curry finished the game with 35 points and four assists. Plus, he shot 12-for-23 from the field and was 7-for-12 from the 3-point line.
It’s been a grueling season for the 38-year-old hotshot. He’s had to endure injuries and signs of age on an aging team. Nevertheless, Curry always seems to find a way to do what he does best.
He played 43 regular-season games and averaged 26.6 points and 4.7 assists per game. He shot 46.6% from the field and 39.3% from the 3-point line.
It’s not a comeback, because Steph never truly left.
