Ken Rosenthal gives Marlins a 97-win comparison amid solid April appeared first on ClutchPoints . Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here .
With the Miami Marlins in the midst of the 2026 season, the team has exceeded a lot of expectations, especially when looking at the landscape of the NL East, with teams such as the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets disappointing. Though the Marlins experienced a setback with Pete Fairbanks on the injured list (IL), Ken Rosenthal would compare the team to the Milwaukee Brewers in an interesting way.
Speaking on “Foul Territory,” he would talk about Miami trending in the right direction and ponder if the team can squeak into the postseason. Rosenthal expressed how the ball club has a toughness in how they “play kind of in a Brewers style,” which Milwaukee won 97 games last season.
“And what I like about them is just the way they play,” Rosenthal said. “They play kind of in a Brewers style, sort of fundamentally sound, not always fundamentally sound, but they play hard, and they try to do things to disrupt the other team. And I just kind of like what Clayton McCullough has done with them. Are they a playoff team? I don’t know about that, but they won 79 games last year, and when you win 79 games, you’re not far off from the playoff picture in a 12-team expanded field.”
Ken Rosenthal on how the Marlins could attack the trade market
Rosenthal would first talk about how the Marlins have the ninth-ranked ERA in the majors as pitchers such as Sandy Alcantara , Max Meyer , Eury Perez , and Janson Junk have performed well. He’d speak on Miami and how their actions in trades could impact their playoff status.
“Alcántara will be a guy that they perhaps look to trade at the deadline, regardless of where they are. But if they stay together and maybe add to their team, imagine that. Maybe they’re a playoff club, because, of course, the Phillies and Mets are down perhaps for the season, as well as just the first month,” Rosenthal said.
At any rate, the Marlins are currently 15-16 ahead of a four-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies, which starts Friday night.
