LeBron James has added another major NBA milestone to his resume, this time overtaking Boston Celtics legend Robert Parish for the most regular-season games played in league history.
The Los Angeles Lakers star first pulled level with Parish on Thursday, then moved clear two days later to stand alone on 1,612 games.

This is the latest marker of LeBron's durability, and it says as much about availability as it does about greatness.

LeBron James breaks Robert Parish's games played record
NBA confirmed the record after LeBron James appeared in his 1,612th game, moving past Robert Parish's 1,611.
LeBron had already tied the record in the Lakers' win over the Miami Heat , a game in which he posted 19 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists despite arriving in the city after an overnight flight from Houston .
That made the follow-up appearance even more significant. It was not just another start. It was the moment he took sole possession of a record built on surviving season after season.

Most longevity records flatten into trivia over time. This one still carries weight because it reflects how often LeBron has remained good enough, healthy enough, and important enough to keep being picked night after night.
Why LeBron James passing Robert Parish matters so much
LeBron James breaking Robert Parish's record matters because Parish had been the outright NBA leader in games played since April 6, 1996, giving the mark nearly three decades of permanence before the Lakers forward finally reached it.
That history gives the achievement real substance. Parish was the standard for endurance, and his total lasted through multiple eras, rule changes, and different approaches to workload management.

LeBron's case is even more striking because he did not simply hang on. He reached the top of this list while still performing at an All-Star level in his 23rd season.
That is what separates this from a ceremonial milestone. The Lakers are still relying on him, still building around him and still asking him to shape winning basketball deep into March.
