The Indiana Fever fanbase held their collective breaths as Caitlin Clark suffered an injury during the team’s preseason game this week. Clark had missed the majority of last season due to injury, and this game was the fanbase’s first opportunity to see her back on the court.

But Fever fans can exhale as the injury to Caitlin Clark was not expected to be serious , as per Chloe Peterson of The Indy Star. The Fever ’s star did not have any additional swelling or any other issues overnight, and she did not have any additional wraps on her knee or leg as well.

The injury occurred during the third quarter of the Fever’s preseason game against the Dallas Wings on Thursday when Clark banged knees with Wings center Alanna Smith . She exited the game and ultimately did not return. Clark finished with a game-high 21 points, two rebounds, four assists and one steal in 16 minutes of play. She shot 4-of-6 from the field, 2-of-3 from the 3-points line and 11-of-13 from the free-throw line.

The Fever have another preseason game on Saturday against the Nigerian national team, and Clark did not appear on the team’s injury report.

Last season, a groin injury kept Clark from returning in time for the second half of the season and the playoffs. She was limited to only 13 games, at a little over 31 minutes per game. She averaged 16.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 8.8 assists and 1.6 steals with splits of 36.7 percent shooting from the field, 27.9 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 82 percent shooting from the free-throw line.
