The Tampa Bay Lightning took a loss in Game 1 of their Stanley Cup Playoff series with the Montreal Canadiens . It was a 4-3 overtime loss, led by a hat-trick by Juraj Slafkovsky of the Canadiens .
Now, as the Lightning prepare for Game 2, the defense may have just taken another hit , according to Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports.
"Charle-Edouard D'Astous is doubtful tomorrow, according to Jon Cooper," Lavoie posted on X, formerly Twitter.
D'Astous exited Game 1 when he was hit mid-way through the second period. Jake Evans and Josh Anderson collided with him behind his own net and needed assistance from his teammates to get off the ice. Anderson was penalized for the hit, initially being given a five-minute major, but the play was downgraded to a two-minute minor for charging.
Darren Raddysh would score on the resulting powerplay, tying the game. Brandon Hagel then scored later in the period to give the Lightning the lead. Still, with just 24 seconds left in the second period, Slafkovsky scored his first goal, scoring on the powerplay.
Montreal would get another powerplay from Slafkovsky in the third period, but Brandon Hagel tied the game, again with the man-advantage, later in the third. Still, penalties would be the undoing of the Lightning . In overtime, once again with a member of the Lightning in the sin bin, Slafkovsky scored his third of the game to win it for the Habs.
As the Lightning look to rebound from the Game 1 loss, they will be down potentially two men on the blue line. D'Astous played in 70 games this year, finding the back of the net six times while adding 23 assists. Meanwhile, Victor Hedman remains out of the lineup. He played just 33 games, with a goal and 15 assists.
Game 2 between the Lightning and Canadiens is set for Tuesday night in Tampa .
