Kylian Mbappe 's Real Madrid future is again under scrutiny as Jose Mourinho moves closer to a return to the club.
Reports from Fabrizio Romano claim that Real Madrid and Mourinho have a verbal agreement over a two-year deal, with an announcement expected after the season.
That would leave the Portuguese manager handling a difficult dressing-room situation. Mbappe has faced criticism from sections of Real Madrid's supporters after arriving as a blockbuster signing, and there is speculation about the Frenchman being a divisive person within the squad.
Liverpool would naturally monitor any major shift. They have long been linked with Mbappe, and Mohamed Salah 's expected departure would leave space for a new superstar.

Speaking on Sky Sports News this Monday, former midfielder and coach Tim Sherwood said: "If you don't want to play for Jose Mourinho, if you're Mbappe, you're out the door. The fans are rushing him out of town anyway.
"Mbappe will leave the football clu, unless Jose gets him on side. And then he'll thank Jose for keeping him in the biggest club in the world."
Sherwood's point was based on Mourinho's authority. The Portuguese coach is known for demanding commitment from major players, which could make Mbappe's situation one of his first tests.
If that relationship failed, Liverpool could have a major opportunity. The French star would bring the individual star quality Liverpool may lack once Salah leaves.
There would still be major obstacles. Mbappe's wages and competition from other clubs would make any transfer difficult.
It is also important to mention that Mourinho's personality makes the situation hard to predict. He can clash with stars, but he has also managed elite dressing rooms and won trophies with major players.
