Ryan Smith’s Utah Mammoth cracked the code on how to make your fans fall in love with Stanley Cup Playoff hockey, and that is going into your first game on home ice and absolutely dominating the Vegas Golden Knights . MacKenzie Weegar ’s opening goal sent the Delta Center fans to their feet, and the Mammoth rode that wave to a 4-2 Game 3 win, according to NHL.com’s Nicholas J. Cotsonika.

“Obviously, the fans have been incredible ever since Day 1 when we showed up here, and it seemed like they took it to a whole new level tonight,” forward Lawson Crouse said. “We can start to use that to our advantage. They really energized us. I mean, I was looking up in the stands after the first goal and just seeing all the rally towels going, and just feeling the energy and the passion from them really give us that boost.”

The Mammoth entered the series as underdogs, with most believing that the Golden Knights ’ experience would prevail over the green Mammoth. In Game 1, it looked like that was true. However, after Games 2 and 3, it looks like Utah is a team of the present , not a team of the future.

Game 4 will be a crucial game in the series, and the Mammoth will try to ride the wave of another game at the Delta Center to take a commanding 3-1 series lead. With Utah and the Anaheim Ducks having the Golden Knights and Edmonton Oilers on the ropes, it’s looking like there could be a changing of the guard coming in these playoffs.
