The Seattle Mariners will be without a member of the pitching staff for the entire 2026 season.
On Friday, ESPN's Jeff Passan reported on X that 6-foot-4 right-hander Logan Evans underwent Tommy John Surgery last week and will be out until next year.
"As a rookie last year, Evans made 15 starts and threw 81.1 innings," Passan wrote. "While he was a depth starter in the Mariners' excellent rotation, it's nonetheless a painful loss."
The Mariners announced that the timeline for Evans' return is 12 months.
Seattle's rotation without Evans
Even without Evans, the Mariners are in a good position to have a top-five Major League starting rotation.
Bryan Woo became the undisputed ace of the staff last year, posting a 2.94 ERA while allowing just 1.7 walks per nine innings, earning his first All-Star selection. Woo finished fifth in AL Cy Young Award voting.
It can be argued that Logan Gilbert and Luis Castillo could be No. 1 starters in a handful of rotations around MLB, and Bryce Miller and George Kirby are due for bounce-back seasons.
