Now, it is being pointed out just how hot the Marlins have been in June, according to Sarah Langs of MLB.com.
"The Marlins are the first team to enter a calendar month 8+ games under .500 and leave said month 6+ games over .500," Langs posted on X, formerly Twitter.
On May 31, the Marlins were 26-34, sitting eight games under .500. They were just 18-15 at home, and 14 games back in the NL East. They were also seven games out of a Wild Card spot.
The Marlins then opened June with a sweep of the Washington Nationals and won nine of their first ten games of the month. In June, they have lost just one series, and only lost two in a row once. Meanwhile, the team had three different winning streaks of four or more games. The team went 20-6, moving to third place in the NL East. At 46-40, the Marlins are also tied with the St. Louis Cardinals and San Diego Padres for the final NL Wild Card spot.
Kyle Stowers has been on fire over the last month. He hit .255 with a .355 on-base percentage. He had five home runs and 23 RBIS. Meanwhile, Owen Caissie hit .246 with five home runs and 17 RBIs. Finally, Joe Mack hit .294 with five home runs and 15 RBIs in the month.
The pitching has also been stellar. Sandy Alcantara made six starts, going 6-0 with a 3.35 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP. Max Meyer was also stellar, making five starts and going 4-0 with a 1.78 ERA. The bullpen has also been stellar. John King made ten appearances, pitching 11 innings with a 0.82 ERA and also going 5-0. Pete Fairbanks also made six saves in the month, while Michael Petersen had eight holds.
The Marlins continue their four-game series with the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday night, looking for a third straight win.
