The MLB Power Rankings are back to wrap up June and head into the celebration of America's 250th birthday. In New York, things have gone off the rails. The New York Mets fired Carlos Mendoza , while the Boston Red Sox swept Aaron Boone and the Yankees over the weekend. How far do both of the Big Apple's teams fall to start July?
Let's find out in the latest edition of the MLB Power Rankings.
#1: Los Angeles Dodgers (-)
David Frerker-Imagn Images
The Los Angeles Dodgers remain in the top spot in the MLB Power Rankings with a 54-30 record. They swept the Minnesota Twins and took two of three from the San Diego Padres to maintain the top spot. Kyle Tucker had his best game as a Dodger on Saturday , knocking in four runs in a 15-3 win. If the big free-agency acquisition starts coming through offensively, LA may be unbeatable long before October begins. The Dodgers visit the Athletics before hosting the Padres for three games.
#2: Atlanta Braves (-)
The Atlanta Braves have firmly hit the skids, dropping 12 of their last 16 games after another disastrous week. They were swept by the Padres and dropped two to the San Francisco Giants , moving to 49-33. Two players who were key to their early-season surge have significantly fallen off. Drake Baldwin's return from the injured list has not yielded strong results, as he is 2-for-43 in 11 games since his return. In Bryce Elder 's last three starts, he has allowed 19 runs in 14 innings, including all five runs in Saturday's loss. The Braves look to turn it around against the St Louis Cardinals and the Mets, all at home.
#3: Milwaukee Brewers (-)
The Milwaukee Brewers are the second team in the majors to reach 50 wins this season, sitting at 50-31. But it comes during a sluggish weekend, which saw them drop two games to the Chicago Cubs . Before that, they continued their domination of the Cincinnati Reds , sweeping their division rivals. Milwaukee is now 92-55 against Cincy since 2017. But dropping a set to the Cubs leaves the door open in the NL Central, with the lead down to 5.5 games. The Brewers host the Reds and visit the Arizona Diamondbacks this week.
#4: Tampa Bay Rays (+1)
The Tampa Bay Rays have found their winning ways again, splitting four games with the Kansas City Royals and sweeping the Diamondbacks. That puts them back in first place in the AL East at 48-33, one game ahead of the Yankees. Junior Caminero had a wild week , hitting three homers in a game and following that up with homers in all three games against Arizona. The slugger has followed his 45-homer campaign from last year with 22 more already this season. While his defense has been a concern, his offense is a force. The Rays visit the Royals and the Houston Astros this week.
#5: Philadelphia Phillies (+1)
The Philadelphia Phillies are just three games behind the Braves in the NL East after another great week. They took three of four from the Washington Nationals and two of three from the Mets, moving to 47-37. Kyle Schwarber has 30 homers already, reaching the milestone in fewer games than any Phillie in history. His chase for 60 homers, alongside Cristopher Sanchez's path to the NL Cy Young, put the Phillies firmly in the race headed into the summer. They host the Pirates before visiting the Royals this week.
#6: New York Yankees (-2)

The Yankees started the week by taking two of three from the Detroit Tigers , beating Tarik Skubal in the process. They then went to Fenway, where the June swoon dropped into gear. The Yankees were no-hit through four innings in three consecutive games against Boston, highlighted by Sonny Gray 's 7.1-inning bid on Sunday. A late comeback on Sunday forced extras, but they could not squeeze out the win. Austin Wells' batting average is in Joey Gallo territory, which is where no Yankee wants to be. They host the Tigers and the Minnesota Twins this week.
#7: San Diego Padres (-)
The Padres swept the Braves to start the week, winning the middle game on Manny Machado 's walk-off single. While they dropped two of three to the Dodgers over the weekend, they are trending back in the right direction. Fernando Tatis Jr. has turned his season around, with an OPS peaking over .800 after a strong week. The Padres have the pieces, but have not been able to put them together until now. They hit the road to face the Cubs and the Dodgers this week.
#8: Chicago Cubs (+1)
The Cubs have also found their stride of late, sweeping a four-game set against the Mets and taking two of three from the Brewers. Pete Crow-Armstrong did not have a hit against the Brewers, which is good and bad news for Chicago. If their star gets cold, this hot streak could run out. But if they can win despite that, this NL Central could get interesting in the second half. The Cubs traded for David Peterson to help their starting pitching injuries, which they desperately needed. The Cubs host the Padres and the Cardinals this week.
#9: Cleveland Guardians (-1)
The Guardians dropped two of three to the Chicago White Sox before taking two from the Seattle Mariners over the weekend. Chase DeLauter has returned from the injured list, picking up two RBI in his return to the lineup on Sunday. Slade Cecconi put up six scoreless innings on Saturday. If he starts to turn his season around, Cleveland's pitching staff could get even better. The Guardians are one of the four AL teams above .500 and are tied for the AL Central lead with Chicago. The Guardians host the Texas Rangers and the White Sox at home this week.
#10: Chicago White Sox (+3)
The White Sox round out the top-10 of the MLB Power Rankings after taking two of three from the Guardians and the Royals. As they continue their great season, it's easy to forget that some of these players won 41 games in a season just two years ago. But the Southsiders have flipped the script quickly. Miguel Vargas , one of those '24 Sox, has been great in Munetaka Murakami 's absence, posting a .941 OPS in June. Everybody's numbers were helped by a 22-run outburst against Kansas City . The White Sox visit the Baltimore Orioles and the Guardians this week.
#11: St Louis Cardinals (+1)
Peter Aiken-Imagn Images
The Cardinals had a rough week, but they are still firmly in the top half of the power rankings at the halfway point. They dropped two of three to both the Diamondbacks and the Marlins, falling to 43-38 on the season. Rookie Bryan Torres came through on Sunday, knocking in the only two runs to end a four-game losing streak. Just 20 games into his career, he may have hit a momentum-shifting homer. The Cardinals look to ride the wave on the road against the Braves and Cubs.
#12: Seattle Mariners (-2)
The Mariners are 42-43 after dropping two of three to both the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Guardians. Cal Raleigh 's offensive struggles have become the story, as he has fallen off after his MVP-2 campaign last year. He has a dreadful .165 batting average and a .578 OPS in 53 games this season. Since returning from injury, he has three RBI in 12 games. All of that said, the Mariners are a half-game back in the AL West. They face the Los Angeles Angels and the Toronto Blue Jays this week.
#13: Texas Rangers (+1)
The Rangers are atop the AL West with a 42-42 record after sweeping a four-game series against the Blue Jays. They started the week by dropping two of three to the Marlins, but bounced back in a big way. Sunday's one-run win came on the back of a great start from Kumar Rocker , which is huge for the immediate future of the Rangers. If they can combine a Cy Young-caliber Jacob deGrom with a young ace in Rocker, they can make a second-half run. The Rangers visit the Guardians and host the Tigers this week.
#14: Toronto Blue Jays (-3)
The Blue Jays' season is spiraling after dropping two of three to the Houston Astros and a four-game sweep by the Rangers. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is firmly to blame for this season's failures, as he only has four homers on the season. George Springer has taken a step back as well, and Andres Gimenez continues to bring nothing offensively. The good news for the Blue Jays is that Gavin McKenna is a Maple Leaf , and Canada is in the Round of 16 in the World Cup . If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around, does it make a sound? The Blue Jays will find out against the Mets and the Mariners.
#15: Pittsburgh Pirates (-)
Charles LeClaire-Imagn Images
The Pirates remain at .500 and in the middle of the MLB Power Rankings after taking two of three from the Mariners and dropping two of three to the Reds. If they won some of Paul Skenes ' starts, it would be a different conversation. They have lost eight straight Skenes starts, partly due to the ace's 4.40 ERA in that stretch. The Pirates' offense has been good this year , ranking second in team OPS so far. But it has not resulted in enough wins yet. Could a big deadline addition make the difference? The Pirates visit the Phillies and the Nationals this week.
#16: Washington Nationals (+3)
The Nationals dropped three of four to the Phillies, but bounced back by taking two of three from the Orioles. CJ Abrams was scratched from an early-week game and then went hitless against the Orioles over the weekend. Abrams and James Wood are the big names helping Washington put together a .500 campaign. That has helped mask the poor performance of Dylan Crews . The former second-overall pick has a .645 OPS in 35 games in his third MLB season. The Nationals visit the Red Sox and host the Pirates this week.
#17: Athletics (-1)
The Athletics have every opportunity to run away with the AL West, but they have not taken it. They dropped two of three to the Giants and the Angels, falling to 40-44 on the season. They are 5-9 in their last 14 games, the worst mark in the American League, but they are only two games back of the division lead. Gage Jump has come up and been the pitcher they need, allowing no runs in 12 innings across his last two starts. The Athletics need wins with the Dodgers and the Marlins coming to town this week.
#18: Miami Marlins (+3)
The Marlins are big risers in the MLB Power Rankings, moving up three spots after taking two of three from the Rangers and the Cardinals. Without Liam Hicks , their offense has still be stellar. Kyle Stowers has a 1.099 OPS and 10 RBI in his last 1o games, while Owen Caissie has a 1.197 OPS and eight RBI in the same window. Sandy Alcantara became the Marlins strikeout king, with his 1,002nd K in a Fish uniform. Things are looking up in Miami with the Colorado Rockies and the Athletics this week, all on the road.
#19: Baltimore Orioles (-2)
The Orioles' season is slipping away, with a 39-46 record after series losses to the Angels and the Nationals. Pete Alonso is not the issue, with 19 homers and an .820 OPS. Gunnar Henderson , on the other hand, has been bad with a .701 OPS on the season. With no high-end starting pitching to speak of, Baltimore needs their offensive stars to step up. They are getting Adley Rutschman back from the IL , which is a big relief. The Orioles have abysmal vibes, but they are just three games out of the final Wild Card spot. They can turn things around against the White Sox and the Reds this week.
#20: Cincinnati Reds (-2)
Charles LeClaire-Imagn Images
The Reds cannot decide which way they want to go, which will make the trade deadline fascinating. They were swept by the Brewers to start the week, but bounced back by taking two of three from the Pirates. At 39-43, they are in last place in the NL Central. But, they are just 4.5 games out of the final Wild Card spot. Sal Stewart has fallen off from his early-season dominance, posting a .716 OPS in June. Could they get some offensive help at the deadline? Or will it be the start of a fire sale in Cincinnati? They face the Brewers and the Orioles this week.
#21: Arizona Diamondbacks (-1)
The Diamondbacks are 41-42 after taking two of three from the Cardinals and getting swept by the Rays. In games against the Rockies and the Giants, they are 11-2 on the season. Outside of those two bottom-dwellers, they are 30-40. The good news is that the Giants are coming to town next. But the bad news is that they are running out of games against those teams. The Dodgers are running away with the NL West, so if the Snakes can't beat the other Wild Card contenders, this season won't last much longer. The Diamondbacks host the Brewers after a three-game Giants set.
#22: Houston Astros (+4)
The Astros are the biggest risers in the MLB Power Rankings, flying up four spots. They took two of three from the Blue Jays and three of four from the Tigers, moving to 42-44 on the season. Houston is the proof that in this weak AL, a good week can change everything. They've gone from six games out of first place on June 1 to just one game back to start their next series. And a playoff berth could help Yordan Alvarez capture an AL MVP, as he leads baseball with a 1.039 OPS. Jose Altuve left Saturday's game with an injury and did not play Sunday. Houston hosts the Twins and the Rays this week.
#23: Minnesota Twins (-)
The Twins were swept by the Dodgers to start the week, but bounced back to take two of three from the Rockies. They are 4.5 games out of first place in the AL Central and two games back from the final Wild Card spot. For a team written off to start the season, Byron Buxton and Joe Ryan have dragged them to a respectable record . The question now becomes where those two players will be after the deadline. Because if they are both in the Twin Cities, there is a chance they hit the gas and make the playoffs. The Twins hit the road to face the Astros and Yankees this week.
#24: Boston Red Sox (+1)
The Red Sox have life after a four-game sweep of the Yankees at Fenway Park . Jarren Duran had another interaction with a fan, but flushed that with a walk-off hit to win Sunday's finale. The pitching has been great this season, with no-hit bids lasting into the fifth inning in the last three games. That comes without Garrett Crochet , who remains out. The Red Sox are still 10 games under .500, but have a chance to grab momentum with the Nationals and Angels coming up.
#25: Detroit Tigers (-3)
Lon Horwedel-Imagn Images
The Tigers dropped two of three against the Yankees and three of four to the Astros, falling to 35-49 on the season. Tarik Skubal is back, but Detroit lost his start to the Bombers at home on Wednesday. It was the bullpen that cost them the final two games against Houston, with three runs in the eighth on Saturday and an extra-inning loss on Sunday. If the Tigers want to improve, the bullpen would be the best place to start. But the only trade conversation happening is around Skubal and where he could go next. The Tigers visit the Yankees and the Rangers coming up this week.
#26: New York Mets (-2)
The Mets became the third team this season to fire their manager, parting with Carlos Mendoza after a 34-47 start to the season. Andy Green took over after the four-game sweep from the Cubs and promptly dropped two of three to the Phillies. No one thinks that firing Mendoza will put this team in the World Series conversation, but they had to start somewhere. The Mets also made their first trade of the season, sending David Peterson to the Cubs. How deep will the trades go from David Stearns this summer? Or can the Mets prevent more trades against the Blue Jays and Braves this week?
#27: Kansas City Royals (-)
The Royals start out the final tier of the MLB Power Rankings with a dreadful 35-50 record. They split four games with the Rays, nearly getting no-hit in the last game, and dropped two of three to the White Sox. Salvador Perez has been dreadful this season, with a .576 OPS and a -0.9 bWAR. He is a franchise legend, but it is time for the Royals to move on from Perez as the designated hitter. Any chance they have of making a charge comes from an offensive surge, which could come from the DH spot. With Cole Ragans out due to elbow surgery , they have to start hitting. The Royals host the Rays and the Phillies this week.
#28: San Francisco Giants (-)
The Giants are bad on the field, which is one problem. But now, they are a disaster off the field. Buster Posey did nothing to put out the public relations fire started by pitchers refusing to wear Pride hats earlier in June. Fans are protesting because of that, but the product on the field isn't bringing anyone in the door either. Rafael Devers refused to come off the field for a pinch-runner and blamed the media for it, which was an interesting move as well. At 35-48, this season is over, especially in the deep National League. They visit the Diamondbacks and the Rockies this week.
#29: Los Angeles Angels (-)
The Angels made the change their fans have been waiting for, firing Perry Minasian after 5.5 seasons as the general manager. His contract was expiring at the end of the season, so he will not get to run this year's trade deadline. Kurt Suzuki better be renting his place, as the manager is on a one-year deal. It comes amid series wins against the Orioles and Athletics, moving the Halos to 36-49. John Mozeliak, who recently left the Cardinals front office, is coming in to clean things up. Could that mean Albert Pujols as the next manager? In the meantime, the Angels visit the Mariners and host the Red Sox.
#30: Colorado Rockies (-)
Christopher Hanewinckel-Imagn Images
The Rockies took two of three from the Red Sox and dropped two of three to the Twins, continuing their reign as the worst team in baseball. Hunter Goodman has been great, however, and it isn't a Coors Field bump. The catcher has an .843 OPS this season, thanks to a .990 OPS on the road. That should be all teams need to see to try and land him in a blockbuster trade. Once again, that's all there is to talk about with the Rockies. What will Paul DePodesta's first deadline back in baseball look like? First, they host the Marlins and the Giants.
