Ryan Nembhard broke one of Jason Kidd ’s single-game records with his remarkable playmaking in the Dallas Mavericks’ 149-128 blowout win over the Chicago Bulls on Sunday night.

Nembhard completed the rookie campaign of his NBA career. He made surprising noise as he showed off flashes off amazing potential as one of the Mavericks’ brightest spots amid a disappointing season that will point towards a rebuild.

Nembhard made sure to give Dallas fans another exciting performance. In 38 minutes of action, he flourished with a stat line of 15 points, a career-high 23 assists, nine rebounds, and two steals. He shot 6-of-11 from the field, including 1-of-2 from beyond the arc, and 2-of-2 from the free-throw line. His efforts allowed him to make franchise history with the most assists in a game as a rookie, breaking Kidd’s record in the process.

Ryan Nembhard ended his rookie campaign with a bang after breaking Jason Kidd’s rookie record, leading the Mavericks to a strong victory over the Bulls.

Eight players scored in double-digits for Dallas in the win, including Nembhard. John Poulakidas led the team with a career-high 28 points, four assists, two rebounds, one steal, and a block. He shot 9-of-18 overall, including 8-of-16 from downtown, and 2-of-3 from the charity stripe. Tyler Smith and AJ Johnson came next with 20 points each, Moussa Cisse had 17 points and 20 rebounds, Max Christie and Klay Thompson put up 12 points each, while Cooper Flagg provided 10 points and four rebounds.

Dallas ends the season with a 26-56 record, sitting at 12th place in the Western Conference standings. They are above the Memphis Grizzlies and the Sacramento Kings while being under the New Orleans Pelicans and the Golden State Warriors .

The Mavericks will continue their building their core around Cooper Flagg. They hope to get back to the playoffs and return to serious contention in the long term, something they pulled off at times during the Luka Doncic era.
