Benge himself never wavered in his belief despite hitting .186 to start the season. And that sparked this home run blast against the Rockies during the 4-2 win on Monday:

The prized outfielder via the 20204 MLB Draft also showed his acrobatics on this diving catch.

How did Benge remain confident amid the early season struggles? He dropped a perfect answer on why he never wavered on himself.

“All the guys here have my back. They believe in me so why can’t I believe in myself?” Benge told reporters after the game.

Benge added further context in instilling his belief and feeding off the confidence NYM has in him.

“I have a great group of guys supporting me every step of the way,” Benge said. “That [support] during the game is a big part of helping me.”

Benge flipped a far different switch as of late. He’s gone from swinging an average of .186 to now averaging .303. He scored one other run against Colorado and drove one runner in.

Benge surged against the Anaheim Angels too before the series against the Rockies. He delivered one single for an RBI plus touched home plate twice in the 5-1 victory.

New York has won three of its last four games and sit at 13-22 overall. Tensions boiled around the Mets amid this start. The skipper Mendoza even shook up the pitching lineup too before the game by announcing Huascar Brazoban as the starter. But that decision and a confident Benge spearheaded this win.
