New York Mets ’ infielder Jorge Polanco has been dealing with an injury since late March and was diagnosed with Achilles bursitis. While he continues to work his way back from the issue, reports reveal Polanco is now dealing with a new injury.

The 32-year-old slugger is dealing with a sore wrist , according to Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News. Polanco is receiving imaging on his wrist ahead of the Mets’ Friday matchup against the Chicago Cubs to determine the severity of the injury.
“ Jorge Polanco has a sore right wrist,” reported Mastracco. “He was sent for imaging in Chicago, and the Mets are waiting for the results.”
As of now, Polanco has avoided a trip to the IL. However, the results of the imaging on his wrist could force the Mets to sit him out for a bit. While he was already nursing an Achilles injury he suffered during the second game of the regular season, Jorge Polanco has still managed to play in 14 of the club’s 20 games this year (including Friday’s game vs. the Cubs).
When active, the 13-year veteran has struggled at the plate to begin the 2026 campaign. Through 56 at-bats, Polanco has recorded 10 hits, one home run, and two RBIs, giving him a .179 batting average and .246 OBP. For now, the Mets are relying on Mark Vientos and Brett Baty at first base while manager Carlos Mendoza rotates the DH spot.

The Mets will likely reveal Jorge Polanco’s status after Friday’s game. Multiple injuries are never a good thing, so it’ll be interesting to hear what the results are on his wrist.
