Sixteen weeks into the Patriots' season, plenty of players are nursing injuries as well as various bumps and bruises.
Mike Vrabel is doing what he can to take care of them during the week.
On The 98.5 SportsHub pregame show ahead of Sunday's game against the Ravens, the coach detailed his philosophy with maintenance days for veteran players on his roster. Vrabel said "of course" it's important to rest guys when he can.
"I do what's best for the team. I do what's best for each player. Everybody's got a plan," Vrabel said. "Some guys are different. Some guys come out halfway through practice. Some guys do team period only. Some guys do jog through. That's a daily conversation with (head athletic trainer) Jim Whalen, with myself, with (director of sports performance) Frank Piraino. We do that constantly.
"So excited (with) where that process is. Making sure that in our first year that those are things that everybody is comfortable with as we talk through the players and their health and what they need to do each day."
It's a departure from the "no days off" mantra that Bill Belichick implemented during his time in Foxborough, but Vrabel, who spent 14 years suiting up in the NFL, has taken a more player-friendly approach.
