Tampa Bay Rays star Junior Caminero accomplished another wild feat on Sunday. This time, he did something that hadn't been done for more than a decade. He joined Philadelphia Phillies star Bryce Harper on a very special list .
"Junior Caminero has 7 homers in his last 6 games," MLB reporter Sarah Langs posted to X, formerly Twitter. "That's tied for the most home runs in a 6-game span at age 22 or younger since at least 1900, with: 2015 Bryce Harper , 1965 Willie Horton, 1964 Boog Powell."
Caminero hit a home run on Sunday that traveled 463 feet. He blasted it in a game against the Arizona Diamondbacks .
Caminero is helping lead a Rays team that hopes to win the American League East this season. His Rays club now leads the AL East by half a game, as of time of writing.
Caminero's blast was one for the ages on Sunday. He now has 22 home runs on the season.
"It was the seventh-longest homer at Tropicana Field since Statcast began tracking batted-ball data in 2015, and the Rays' second-longest homer since 2021, behind only a 467-foot shot hit by Jonathan Aranda in Baltimore exactly a year ago," MLB.com reported.
Rays fans love to see it. Tampa Bay has been one of Major League Baseball's biggest surprises this year. The Rays are 48-33 on the year. The club has dueled with the New York Yankees for control of the division in the last few months.
Caminero has now homered in four straight games. That includes a bonkers three-home run performance on June 25, against the Kansas City Royals .
"Only three players his age or younger have had a longer home run streak since at least 1900, as Ronald Acuña Jr. (2018), Brian McCann (2006) and Jack Clark (1978) each went deep in five straight games," MLB.com added.
Tampa Bay defeated Arizona on Sunday by a 5-1 score. Rays fans hope that Caminero can continue this insane home-run streak.
Tampa next plays the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday.
