The No. 14 Kansas Jayhawks are up big with a 53-33 lead over the No. 13 BY Cougars going into halftime on Saturday. It's been a one-sided contest through the first half, and all eyes are on Darryn Peterson . The star guard turned plenty of heads after throwing down an impressive dunk over several Cougars defenders.

Late in the first half, the true freshman guard caught the ball near the half-court line before driving toward the paint. He found an open lane on the right side of the key and took it to the rim. Two Cougars defenders attempted to block his shot, but Peterson finished the slam dunk instead, sparking a wild reaction from Kansas fans in the arena.
Peterson has been a standout star since joining the Kansas basketball program this season. He seems to be the next big star to go pro, as ESPN conducted a poll with NBA scouts and executives about who they believe is worthy of being the No. 1 pick in the upcoming draft. Darryn Peterson was the favorite pick in that poll.
Saturday's contest against BYU is Peterson's 11th of the season. He has been dealing with a string of lower-body injuries; however, none of them are deemed serious. The Ohio native entered Saturday's game averaging 21.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 49.3% from the field and 42.0% from beyond the three-point line.

With 10 games remaining on the schedule (excluding the game against BYU), we should expect to see plenty more highlight plays from Darryn Peterson . That could be especially true if Kansas can make a deep run in the upcoming March Madness Tournament.
