Rodrigo Zogaib, Santos' head of medical staff, initially downplayed the issue in an interview with sports network GE, describing it as a minor 2-millimeter edema that would sideline him briefly.
The narrative surrounding the superstar's health took a dramatic turn, throwing his tournament availability into uncertainty and fueling intense speculation.
Insider Fabrizio Romano reported on X that tests have confirmed Neymar suffered a more severe setback and will be sidelined for two to three weeks.
This timeline officially rules him out of Brazil's upcoming warm-up friendlies and jeopardizes his availability for the World Cup opening match against Morocco.

The situation has caused significant concern within the Seleção camp. Neymar was seen looking dejected while leaving a clinic following recent scans, as noticed by Transfer News Live, also on X.
Additionally, Carlo Ancelotti's coaching staff reportedly has growing suspicions that Santos may have downplayed the severity of the calf issue by initially labeling it as merely minor swelling, igniting widespread conspiracy theories about his medical management.
Despite the medical drama, Neymar went viral after arriving at Brazil's training camp in Teresópolis in a black, Batman-themed helicopter.
While his stylish entrance thrilled fans online, he was immediately required to sit out the team's first practice session yesterday to undergo further evaluations on his injured calf with national team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar.
