Notre Dame basketball loses another former 4-star to transfer portal
The transfer portal giveth, and the transfer portel taketh away, and in the case of Notre Dame on Tuesday, it was a lot of taking .
Former four-star recruit Garrett Sundra announced via social media that he would be entering the transfer portal after two seasons in South Bend. Garrett was the second member of the Irish basketball team to announce his departure with teammate Sir Mohammed announcing his transfer intentions just a couple hours earlier.
Garrett's departure can't come as too much of a surprise for head coach Micah Shrewsberry. He played in 16 games this past season averaging 3.5-points and 3.2-rebounds in just under 17-minutes per game. The 6-foot-11, 215-pound Virginia native arrived on campus with a lot of buzz but ultimately things just did not work out and he will be able to get a fresh start elsewhere.
The two departures announced on Tuesday may not be the only ones for the offseason, as Notre Dame is coming off a very disappointing 13-18 season and no postseason. The challenge for the head coach will be able to replace his losses and bring in players that are going to be able to contribute next season to quiet down the noise of possibly having to make a change at the head coach position.
