Ohio State basketball guard reportedly set to enter transfer portal
The transfer portal continues to provide news in Columbus. Ohio State guard Taison Chatman will enter the transfer portal after three seasons with the Buckeyes , according to multiple reports.
The 6-foot-4 guard, who came to Columbus as one of the highest-rated members of the Buckeyes' 2023 recruiting class. Taison put together a very solid 2025-26 season in which he averaged 4.3 points and 0.8 assists in 13 minutes per game, shooting 46% from the field and 47.1% from 3-point range.

Chatman's career with Ohio State was riddled with injuries. He played in only 17 games as a freshman while dealing with lower-body issues, then missed the entire 2024-25 season after he tore his ACL . He was granted a medical redshirt for missing that season. This past season, he showed flashes of scoring, which made him a part of the Buckeyes' guard rotation.
Chatman's departure adds to the massive roster turnover happening in Columbus this offseason. Ohio State already has Devin Royal , Colin White , and Gabe Cupps planning to enter the portal this offseason. With Chatman's name added to the list, the Buckeyes will have a lot of scoring they will need to replace, and there are already rumors that Ohio State is pursuing Notre Dame freshman Jalen Haralson, who recently also announced that he will be entering the transfer portal.
Ohio State finished the year with a 21-13 record overall and a 12-8 record within the Big Ten conference. Its season concluded in the first round of the NCAA tournament in a 66-64 loss to TCU.
