The Baltimore Orioles have been struck by the injury bug in their bullpen for most of this season. Felix Bautista has been out since last August , but they’ve also added Yaramil Hiraldo and Ryan Helsley to the injured list in the past few weeks. It has left the Orioles searching for depth, and they added former New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Lou Trivino to help with that , according to Ken Rosenthal via X, formerly Twitter.
Trivino had been toiling away in the Philadelphia Phillies’ minor league system before exercising his opt-out to enter free agency. The veteran righty spent some time with the Phillies last season, which was his third stop after time with the San Francisco Giants and Dodgers. He was previously with the Yankees in 2022 but missed the entire 2023 and 2024 seasons due to injury.
Trivino had a difficult recovery from Tommy John Surgery, missing all of 2023 before elbow inflammation in 2024 set him back and forced him to miss another full season. The 2025 season was all about getting back in the majors, but a shoulder injury and illness caused him to start the year in the minors and never fully get back on track.
The veteran looked great in the minors for the Phillies, which led him to his contract with the Orioles. If he can keep the injury issues behind him and return to his 2022 form, when he had a 1.66 ERA in 25 appearances for the Yankees, it’ll be a massive boost to a Baltimore bullpen that is in the bottom third of the majors.
