Padres' Mason Miller drops truth bomb on recent trade rumors appeared first on ClutchPoints . Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here .
Another day, another trade rumor confirmation from insiders , rival executives, and reporters on Mason Miller . With how the San Diego Padres ' 2026 season is unfolding, people think that trading away the game's best closer would benefit the future of the ballclub.
Last year, Miller was traded away from the Athletics to the Padres for the No. 1 prospect on the Padres, plus more. The Friars were attempting to make a postseason run, but fell short to the Chicago Cubs in the NL Wild Card.
One year later, the Padres are not in contention for the playoffs, but that can still change with two months left in the season. Just because the Padres farm system is not where it once was does not mean that they must trade away a generational talent to rebuild it.

Either after the game on Wednesday night against the Arizona Diamondbacks or early on Thursday morning, Miller was asked about the trade rumors, and he dropped a truth bomb on how he handles it, via Marty Caswell on X.
"I kind of take the trade stuff and put it on the back burner," Miller said with a smile. "I didn't have any control of it last year, and I won't have control over it for several more years."
"I just think, putting my head down and focusing on today, is how I got about my season. And regardless of any rumors or anything like that, that is what I am going to continue to do."
The Padres would be making a massive mistake by sending away a player who could be a vital piece to a championship team in the near future.
