With the speculation around the San Diego Padres trading Mason Miller , there is no denying that fans will be closely monitoring if the team will end up doing that ahead of the trade deadline. As rumors will continue around the Padres , these MLB insiders speak about the team and Miller, and whether that is a possibility.
Ken Rosenthal and Will Sammon of The Athletic wrote that they are not totally confident in the idea that San Diego and its president of baseball operations, A.J. Preller, would be sellers. However, if a player like Miller were available in the market, the question is what a package would look like , especially if the team is looking for top prospects, despite them giving up one in Leo De Vries for the closer.
"We'll believe San Diego Padres president of baseball operations A.J. Preller will sell when we see it. But if Preller makes Mason Miller available, he will be challenged to acquire a prospect as good as the one he gave up for the All-Star closer, shortstop Leo De Vries," Rosenthal and Sammon wrote.

If Miller were made available, there is no denying that a team would be itching to get him, as he currently has an impressive 0.96 ERA to go along with 23 saves, which is good for third in the MLB.
More on the possibility of the Padres trading Mason Miller
Rosenthal and Sammon would continue talking about what the Padres initially gave up for Miller and how a big haul would be what it takes to trade the 27-year-old.
"De Vries was the centerpiece of the package of the four-player package Preller sent the Athletics for Miller and lefty J.P. Sears," Rosenthal and Sammon wrote. "Miller had four-plus years of control then; he's down to three-plus now. He would still command a haul, though. He has performed better with the Padres (0.89 ERA, 61 IP) than he did with the A's (3.16 ERA, 136 2/3 IP)."
At any rate, it remains to be seen if San Diego will make Miller available, as the team has a 46-46 record, putting them second in the NL West.
