The Chiefs had a Sunday to forget.
Tyquan Thornton was placed in concussion protocol after a massive hit from Chargers safety Tony Jefferson , were eliminated from playoff contention for the first time since 2014 and Patrick Mahomes suffered a knee injury at the end of the game.

The quarterback’s knee buckled on a tackle in the final two minutes of Kansas City ’s loss to Los Angeles .
Mahomes remained down holding his knee before he was helped to the locker room. Video showed him unable to put much weight on his left leg.
With a Buffalo Bills win over the New England Patriots and the Chiefs ’ 16-13 loss to the Chargers , Kansas City’s playoff hopes were officially over.
It marks the first time the Chiefs won’t make the playoffs since Patrick Mahomes became their quarterback in 2017.
