On Monday, the team shuffled its practice squad by signing rookie guard Mehki Butler and subsequently releasing guard Bill Murray.

After being cut at the end of training camp, Butler signed with the Patriots practice squad on Aug 27.

Butler is the second guard signed to the practice squad, joining Andrew Rupcich . The Patriots also have center Brenden Jaimes and tackle Sebastian Gutierrez. Jaimes has been elevated to the Patriots game-day roster twice this season.
Murray, 28, signed with the Patriots on Nov. 25. The veteran has been involved in multiple transactions with the franchise. Signed as an undrafted free agent in 2020, as a defensive tackle, he was cut and signed seven times between 2020 and 2023 while moving to offensive guard. He left New England in 2023, signing with the Chicago Bears .
Murray made his NFL debut with the Patriots in 2022 and then played in three games with the Bears in 2024.
