FOXBOROUGH - There’s been a lot of comparisons made with respect to Drake Maye and Josh Allen , with the Patriots quarterback being a younger version of the Bills great.
During his session with the media Monday, Patriots coach Mike Vrabel was asked about the two ahead of Sunday’s game, and if he believed they were more similar or less similar in how they approached the game.
“They’re both really good at what they do,” Vrabel said of the two quarterbacks. “Josh has probably got a few lbs (pounds) on him, and can throw his shoulder in there a little more than I’d want Drake to, but I think they’re both great competitors.
“I have a lot of respect for Josh and his ability to make something out of nothing,” Vrabel went on. “I’ve enjoyed watching Drake’s growth here. But I’m not going to say one’s a certain way, and one’s another.”
Heading into Week 15 , Maye has thrown 23 touchdown passes with six interceptions in leading the Patriots to an 11-2 record.
Allen, who was sensational in the Bills’ 39-34 win over the Cincinnati Bengals Sunday, has thrown 22 TD passes with 10 picks for a Buffalo team that’s 9-4.
Maye’s QB rating is 111.9 while Allen’s is 102.9.
With a win Sunday, the Patriots have chance to clinch the AFC East, a division the Bills have owned, winning five consecutive titles.
Vrabel, who says Allen gives the Bills “a chance to the very end,” probably doesn’t have to give the Patriots a refresher course on the greatness of Allen ahead of the game.
The bullet points are pretty obvious.
“It’s a huge challenge going up against a quarterback that’s under control, he’s got command, and doesn’t look panicked or rattled when you rush him, or gets him into the right play call. He’s an excellent, obvious MVP quarterback.”
