FOXBOROUGH - Kayshon Boutte wasn’t sure what his future held.
With a new coach on board in January, the talented receiver wasn’t sure if Mike Vrabel would want to keep him around, or send him packing.
Boutte, a sixth-round pick in 2023, didn’t know how much longer his stay as a Patriot would be.
A year later, Boutte has not only cemented his spot in the receivers room, but has won over the head coach.
The two shared a warm embrace in the tunnel following the Patriots 28-16 win over the Houston Texans . Boutte had made a sensational one-handed catch for a touchdown - which turned out to be the put away score.
“It was a great moment. I think he told he me was proud of the way I was going,” Boutte said speaking with reporters Monday. “I’m thankful he believed in me when he came in. There was a lot of talks about where I would be, possibly traded and stuff like that.
“But ... he believed. I believed. And it’s been great.”
Boutte had 3 catches for 75 yards and the highlight reel 32-yard touchdown in the win that advanced the Patriots to the AFC Championship game against Denver.
On the season, he’s been one of Drake Maye ’s most dependable targets.
He’s missed some games with injury, but during the regular season, caught 33 balls for 551 yards with 6 TDs.
During the post-season, he’s been the team’s leading receiver with 7 catches for 141 yards and a touchdown.
