The Philadelphia Phillies hit two different accolades on Thursday via walk-off fashion. Philadelphia took the first game against the San Francisco Giants with a walk-off home run then started Game 2 with a lead off homer. But then completed one more wild scenario.
This Alec Bohm sacrifice fly drove Adolis Garcia home to claim the 6-5 win in 10 innings.
Bohm took a ball after the first pitch. He ripped the 83 miles per hour slider toward center field that lured Garcia home.
MLB analyst Sarah Langs revealed the last time Philly won two games with walk offs.
“If you’re wondering…7/24/98 was last time Phillies won both games of a doubleheader via walk-off,” Langs posted on the social media website X, formerly Twitter.
Langs adds that the 2004 Pittsburgh Pirates are the last MLB team to pull off the feat, occurring on May 28.
Bohm and Garcia clinched the second win over SF. But Kyle Schwarber set it up for Philly. The left-handed batter pounded this ball into right field to tie things up at Citizens Bank Park.
Schwarber faced a full count too before smacking the 88 mph splitter deep toward the fence. That blast became hit No. 4 for the Phillies star and scored two runs. He also drove two runners in for Philly.
Trea Turner added two hits and two runs too off five at-bat attempts. Turner even sent an early home run over right center during the first inning. Garcia, Justin Crawford ( who delivered the first game walk-off for the Phillies ) and Brandon Marsh each chipped in one hit for the home team.
