With the Los Angeles Rams making the blockbuster trade for Myles Garrett from the Cleveland Browns, the team introduced its newest asset on Tuesday.
As Garrett lays down the goals with his new team in the Rams , head coach Sean McVay gives insight into the type of player the 30-year-old is at this stage.
Los Angeles would trade defensive end Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round pick, and the 2029 third-round pick for Garrett, making them an ultimate contender to some in the sports world for next season. McVay would speak on how Garrett is a "special person" on top of being a superstar talent.
"But the first thing in the prerequisite was, this is a special human, you know, it's not [just] a special player, he is a special player, obviously, but it's a special person, special teammate, and those are the kind of things that we look at first and foremost, and being able to welcome him with open arms, we're excited to have him be a huge part of this culture," McVay said, via the team's X, formerly Twitter, account.
Rams' Sean McVay on the 'rare' opportunity to get Myles Garrett
The Rams are getting arguably one of the best players in the entire NFL, who is coming off of last season, where he got 23 sacks, which is now the record for most in a season.
McVay would continue talking about how "rare" it is for a player like Garrett to be available and compares it to when Los Angeles acquired quarterback Matthew Stafford .
"You know, to be able to add players like this, it's so rare for opportunities that present themselves, you know, and we feel really fortunate that this feels very similar when we were fortunate enough to be able to acquire a player like Matthew Stafford.
Things like this don't present themselves, and we wanted to be aggressive and ask him to be nothing more than Myles Garrett , and just continue to improve and come in here," McVay said.
The Rams are hoping the acquisition of Garrett will lead them to the promised land.
